Rare expertise
The thicker and stronger the steel, the fewer suppliers have this material in stock. The second challenge that not every flame-cutting company can fulfil is the precise processing of S690QL in large thicknesses. We offer both of these features, and our customers appreciate that.
This was also the case for a Czech dealer, who needed 20 flame-cut parts made from S690QL in a thickness of 265 millimetres for a customer at short notice. These were to be used in low-loaders for the transport of bulldozers. Hardly any supplier in Europe has this material in stock. But our customer knew that we specialise in the storage and machining of large thicknesses and high-strength steels. This meant we were able to start making the parts from Dillimax S690 straight away. We were given the task of firing 20 parts with two different shapes, but identical dimensions, based on a drawing and having them ready for delivery within a week. The final dimensions of the flame-cut parts were 265 millimetres thick, 560 millimetres wide and 1,480 millimetres long. The challenge was that the sheet first had to be preheated intensively due to its thickness and material grade. To ensure the necessary cutting precision, a great deal of experience with this type of material and thickness was required during preheating. For us, these thicknesses and grades are part of our daily operations in the crane sector, meaning that we have proven expertise in this area. Our flame-cutting specialists produced the parts at the precision required using the oxyfuel torch. One week later, all 20 components were fully processed and ready for delivery, right on time.
